Well I don't really need another blog site... but I never did test out joeuser.com at all...
Team Phobic's First Game
Published on September 4, 2007 By darkhelmet_OG In Game Developers
Hello everyone!

Just thought I'd like to share a bit about the computer game I'm part of a team working on right now, Electropy.

To sum it up:
Electropy is a side scrolling action arcade title with a fundamental gameplay twist. Rather than directly moving your character, the idea is to grapple on to floating polygons in order to swing your way to the goal. The game features a wide selection of power-ups such as gravity change, invincibility, and flight thrusters to diversify gameplay. The title also includes over 100 levels of varying difficulty as well as the same fully functional editor we used to make all the levels in the game. Players are ranked via online scores that are uploaded through the game or on Electropy.com and can download replays of any submitted score. All scores and online profiles will be available on Electropy.com soon!

My part in the whole thing is making the website and backend database containing all of the scores... it's really neat what we have going on, bascically the game records everything the player does and saves it as a .rep file, then anyone can go and view that replay exactly as they played it... it's a whole bunch of fun. We took it a step further and are developing a method to automatically have all the scores and replays between players who have created online profiles be in sync. So, all of your replays get uploaded to the server(in the game) and they are displayed on the server. Then, if a player gets stuck on a level or wants to try and beat the highest scores they just go to the level and hit the "download all replays" button which will go to the website and grab all the replays for that level and they can watch them.

On the website I have a lot of ideas for different medals and such, much of which the galciv metaverse has an influence on me, I am sure. Already we have been competing so much to beat each other's scores, it's hard to get a chance to work on the game anymore The day we brought the ability to sync scores and download other people's replays we spent the next day all playing, it was a blast!

So, if you are a developer and would like to try out the game you can send an e-mail to myself at Email
or to Email. We would love to have some feedback from some other developers and gamers. Hopefully we can get a demo demo up so people can try it out without us giving them the whole game.

This is Team Phobic's first game and we are all very excited, basically since high school myself and some friends(there are 4-5 key contributors and about 10 other people who help) have been working towards learning and designing games. We have built quite a useful 3d engine but before we start developing a game on it we went ahead and wanted to make a game the whole ways through, thus Electropy was started. Our next game will be a very basic game built off of the 3d engine, and after that we have even more plans to make games that we have been discussing for the past 5(at least) years.

Ohh yea, we also submitted the game to TGN, it still needs some work, but hopefully things will work out there... I've been telling my friends we should look towards Stardock ever since Drengin.net was launched

Sounds nifty.   Feel free to send me follow-up emails on the game, I'm playing catch-up on a backlog of things right now.
